Peter Attia, MD, is a Canadian-American physician specializing in longevity, founder of Early Medical, and host of the popular podcast The Peter Attia Drive. He authored the #1 New York Times bestseller Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity, advocating for proactive 'Medicine 3.0' to extend both lifespan and healthspan.
Peter Attia earned a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and applied mathematics from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where he taught and helped revamp the calculus curriculum. He later obtained his M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine. Early in his medical career, Attia trained for five years as a general surgery resident at Johns Hopkins Hospital, earning prestigious awards including Resident of the Year and Excellence in Teaching, and authoring a comprehensive review of general surgery. He then spent two years as a surgical oncology fellow at the National Cancer Institute under Dr. Steve Rosenberg, focusing his research on regulatory T-cells in cancer regression, immune-based therapies for cancer, and specifically melanoma. Transitioning from clinical practice, Attia worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company in corporate risk and healthcare practices. He co-founded and served as president of the Nutrition Science Initiative (NuSI), a nonprofit aimed at advancing nutrition science. In 2012-2013, he was selected as a French-American Foundation Young Leader Fellow. Attia founded Early Medical, a practice applying 'Medicine 3.0' principles to prevent age-related diseases like heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and type 2 diabetes through personalized, proactive strategies. He hosts The Peter Attia Drive podcast, with over 100 million downloads, covering health, nutrition, exercise, and longevity.
