About Shefali Tsabary

Shefali Tsabary - Biography

Dr. Shefali is a clinical psychologist and author who blends Western clinical psychology with Eastern spiritual traditions to teach conscious parenting and mindful living. She is the author of multiple books (three of which have been New York Times bestsellers) and leads a coaching institute and a private clinical practice while speaking internationally.

Shefali Tsabary was born in Mumbai, India, and moved to the United States for higher education; she trained in drama therapy at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and later earned a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Columbia University. Her early exposure to Eastern philosophy in India and training in Western clinical methods shaped her later integrative approach. After completing graduate studies, Tsabary worked in psychotherapy and developed a public-facing teaching practice centered on parenting, relationships, and personal transformation; her method draws explicitly on mindfulness and Eastern wisdom combined with clinical tools from Western psychology. Shefali published her first books in the 2000s and rose to broad public recognition with The Conscious Parent (2010), which Oprah Winfrey endorsed on-air and which helped establish her as a leading voice in parenting and family dynamics. Over time she expanded into courses, trainings, and public speaking, presenting at venues such as TEDx, Kellogg Business School, the Dalai Lama Center, and Oprah’s platforms. Shefali currently runs the Conscious Parenting and Life Coaching Institute, hosts the podcast Parenting & You, maintains a private online psychotherapy practice, and continues to publish and speak internationally about conscious living, parenting, and women’s liberation topics.
