Neil deGrasse Tyson is an American astrophysicist and science communicator. He has served as the director of the Hayden Planetarium since 1996 and is known for making complex scientific concepts accessible to the public.
Neil deGrasse Tyson demonstrated exceptional academic promise from an early age, graduating from the Bronx High School of Science in 1976. A pivotal moment in his youth occurred when he visited Cornell University and met Carl Sagan, who encouraged him to pursue astrophysics. Tyson earned his B.S. in Physics from Harvard University in 1980, followed by a Master of Arts in Astronomy from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983, and a Ph.D. in Astrophysics from Columbia University in 1991. He joined the Hayden Planetarium as a staff scientist in 1994 and became its director in 1996. Tyson has authored numerous books and hosted several television and radio programs, including 'Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey' and 'StarTalk'. He has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to science communication.
