Arthur C. Brooks - Biography

Arthur C. Brooks is a professor at Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School, known for his work on leadership, happiness, and social entrepreneurship. He is a bestselling author and former president of the American Enterprise Institute.

Arthur C. Brooks began his career as a professional classical French hornist, performing for 12 years before transitioning to academia. He earned a BA through distance learning and an MA in economics, later obtaining an MPhil and PhD in public policy analysis. Brooks served as an assistant professor at Georgia State University and a full professor at Syracuse University. In 2009, he became the president of the American Enterprise Institute, where he expanded research on poverty, happiness, and human potential. In 2019, he joined Harvard, focusing on happiness research and teaching. Brooks is also a columnist for The Atlantic and a senior fellow at the Abigail Adams Institute.
